Houses
When
people think of Rosedale, people vision houses.
Rosedale has some of Canada's most beautiful
property. People such as writer Timothy Findlay, singer-song
writer Gordon Lightfoot and former mayor Alan Lamport,
have made Rosedale their home.
| Why
do so many people find these houses of Rosedale
so captivating? It is because of the dominant
architecture that is seen from one residence to
another. Back between the years of 1884 and 1914,
Rosedale went through a major transformation.
Some say this was Rosedale's "Heyday".
This was when people started to move away from
the "High Victorian era". Architects started designing
houses that had "oreo windows" and knobs that
sat on the top of buildings. This is the period
when people began experimented with the a-symmetric
look. The name given to this style was "The Queen
Anne Style" |
